The Glammy Awards at Bloomingdale's San Francisco

What a fabulous event! Carolyne Zinko from the San Francisco Chronicle summed it up best! "Two of the Bay Area’s sassiest pop culture and fashion observers — Emmy award-winning movie critic Jan Wahl, and beauty expert and author Harvey Helms — will co-host a talk about Hollywood beauty secrets on March 15 at Bloomingdale’s San Francisco, an event they’re calling the “Glammy Awards.”The two will dish on Oscar glamour dos and don’ts, and discuss their favorite makeup tricks and brands. Helms, former national director of beauty for Revlon, also worked for Donna Karan Beauty and Luxottica eyewear. His self-published book “Blush: The Unbelievably Absurd Diary of a Gay Beauty Junkie,” is best described as “The Devil Wore Prada” of the cosmetics world. (Did we mention he’s related to the late conservative Senator Jesse Helms? Don’t even get him started on that.)Sounds like this could be a Bay Area version of TV’s “Fashion Police.” Not a bad way to spend a Saturday." Thanks Carolyne! Everyone enjoyed cocktails, the latest Hollywood dish and beauty treats galore. Loved working with Jan Wahl! Want a repeat performance soon!

Get Primed For Smoother Skin

Get Primed For Smoother Skin, Instantly! Here's how to get silky, gorgeous skin ... with or without foundation. So I’m shopping the mall with a girlfriend, dying for a glimpse of the first spring fashion collections, and I start to notice women’s makeup, or the lack thereof, and I realize that some of my beauties out there have not discovered the miracle skin transformer called Primer.I have found over the years that women either hate foundation and give up trying to enhance their complexions, making them looked tired and splotchy, or at the other end of the spectrum, they wear too much foundation and look like mannequins. I understand the disenchantment though. All color cosmetics have a molecular weight that causes foundation, concealer, and even eye make-up to settle, bringing out the imperfections these products are supposed to hide. There’s nothing worse than “creasey” eyeshadow by noon! Now, the application of these products is critical to achieve a natural look, but unless you’re a junkie, I don’t expect you to be a make-up artist extraordinaire. Luckily for us, Gorgeous, many cosmetic manufacturers figured this out and in the last few years introduced a category of skin smoothers called Primers. With or without makeup, these wonder products make you look smoother and more even, imparting a natural “I look like I don’t have anything on” finish. For you foundation lovers, primers make your make-up look smoother and more natural, adding hours of longer wear and fewer touch-ups during the day.I hate seeing a “cakey” pressed powder mess on my pretty girls by 4:00. Luckily the beauty companies have different formulas depending on your skin type and imperfection concern. As yourb, I’m going to make it easy for you. Here are the best “Harvey Approved” Primers for you to choose depending on your skin. These work! I’ve used them all on my clients and a few I personally use to help resurface my oily complexion. When you see the one on the list that’s right for you, go buy it immediately. You’re just a mall trip or click away from smoother, more radiant skinHARVEY APPROVED PRIMERS!
